City Closes Hanjaba Event at Kenari Jakbook Book Market

The city administration officially closed the 2019 Jakarta Children Reading Day (Hanjaba) event themed 'Literacy for All' held at the Kenari Jakbook Book Market, Jalan Salemba Raya, Kenari, Senen, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (8/29).

We continue to increase interest in reading through this event as all developed nations must have a high level of literacy

This closing moment was attended by city officials and students of early-childhood education (PAUD), elementary school, junior high school, senior high school and vocational school, as well as community reading park groups.

City People's Welfare Assistant, Catur Laswanto expressed his appreciation to the Jakarta Library and Archives Agency's efforts in supporting the event in collaboration with various elements of society.

Hanjaba Event Celebrated in West Jakarta

"We continue to increase interest in reading through this event as all developed nations must have a high level of literacy," he expressed.

Jakarta Library and Archives Agency Head, Wahyu Haryadi added that Hanjaba is an annual event that is held in stages starting from city to provincial level since May 2019.

"We want to improve the quality of society, especially kids and adolescents. We also invited disabled kids to participate in a Braille letter reading contest," he told.

As for the information, the event presented various interesting competitions such as coloring, community reading park creativity, English speech, poetry reading and story telling.
